Winning Exclusive Distribution in Japan with the OMD02 Portable Water Flosser

In April 2023, a distributor from Japan contacted us looking for a portable water flosser. Three years later, they are our exclusive partner for the Japanese market, with more than 12,500 units delivered. This is the story of how quality, not price, won the deal.

▎The challenge
The client's target price was well below our quote for the OMD02. Rather than lowering our standards to close the gap, we showed the client what typically lies behind low-cost water flossers: water pressure of only 20–70 PSI, no waterproof coating on the PCB, batteries without overcharge protection, and weak waterproof sealing.
▎How we worked together
The client ordered 4 samples and spent 4 months testing them thoroughly. A competitor's product also passed the client's tests and was offered at a lower price. To settle the question, both parties carried out a blind teardown comparis 3vw on. The client independently confirmed the quality gap and chose us.

The client placed the order with us and signed an exclusive distribution agreement for Japan. We also provide 0.3% free spare units with every shipment. The partnership is now in its fourth year.
